All in-person events are cancelled this year to create a safe, online opportunity for outdoors enthusiasts to gather virtually.
PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee (Jan. 13, 2021)—Pigeon Forge’s Wilderness Wildlife Week (WWW), widely recognized as one of the Southeast’s largest gatherings of wildlife experts, will offer three days of free seminars Feb. 2-4 for outdoors enthusiasts. All in-person WWW events are cancelled for 2021; instead, 18 interactive online sessions are available to participants everywhere.
“Wilderness Wildlife Week has a rich history and a loyal following among those who enjoy learning more about the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains,” said Pigeon Forge Executive Director of Tourism Leon Downey. “Bringing this event online affords us the opportunity to create a safer environment during the pandemic while also making Wilderness Wildlife Week available to folks anywhere through virtual interaction.”
Ken Jenkins, a nationally-recognized natural history photographer, writer, lecturer, and outdoor adventurer will open WWW on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 9 a.m. Over the next three days, participants will learn about a wide variety of wildlife topics, including red foxes, raptors, black bears, bobcats and gray wolves. Other sessions will focus on Appalachian history, crafts, artisans and music as well as nature and conservation of the Great Smoky Mountains and neighboring areas. Two virtual field trips are scheduled to show participants the rich heritage of the Smokies.
The full program is available at https://www.mypigeonforge.com/wilderness.
The three-day lineup includes free 45-minute sessions, each concluding with a Q&A session between participants and wildlife experts.
Outdoors enthusiasts, nature lovers or those who simply want to learn more about Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the area’s rich heritage are invited to register at MyPigeonForge.com/wilderness.
Plans are to resume the in-person event in 2022.
