Pigeon Forge ‘A Mountain Quiltfest’ Honors 27 Years of Craftsmanship, Heritage May 4-8

Annual event assembles quilting experts and enthusiasts for instructional seminars led by the country’s premiere experts.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Feb. 4, 2021) – Pigeon Forge (Tennessee) celebrates the tradition of quilting during the 27th annual A Mountain Quiltfest May 4-8. While this year’s scaled-down event will be different, it aims to commemorate the time-honored craft of quilting as in years past.

Beginner and advanced quilters, and all skill levels in between, can take advantage of classes, seminars and workshops during A Mountain Quiltfest. Led by 19 of the country’s best instructors, topics cover everything from specific quilt patterns to both old and new techniques for machine and hand-quilting. Registration opens on Feb. 9 at 10 a.m., and those interested may register at www.MyPigeonForge.com/event/quiltfest.

Located at the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge, the event will utilize the 232,000-square-foot event center to provide required physical distancing guidelines per Tennessee Pledge protocols, along with required face coverings for all guests, instructors, vendors and staff, and temperature checks upon entry. Class sizes will be limited, and capacity will be monitored in the vendor and exhibit halls.

The free quilt exhibit and vendor hall are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5-7 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 8. Free onsite quilting demonstrations occur daily, in the Greenbrier rooms. Free parking is available at the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge. Additional information about the event schedule can be found in the 2021 Event Program Guide.

Attendees may submit heirloom quilts for appraisal by Cindy Stuart, an American Quilter’s Society certified appraiser. Stuart will be available at the LeConte Center for quilt appraisals May 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Stuart at (865)386-0940 or [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

Stuart also will offer four presentations: “How We Date Quilts” (May 5 and 7 at 9:30 a.m.) and “The Appraisal Process and Caring for Your Quilts” (May 6 and 8 at 1 p.m.)

A Mountain Quiltfest was named a Top 20 Event in 2020 by the Southeast Tourism Society. The International Festivals and Events Association awarded the event a silver Grand Pinnacle Award in 2019.
