Quiltfest celebrates 30 years of craftsmanship and tradition with quilting classes, demonstrations, and workshops.
PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee—(March 20, 2024)—Pigeon Forge’s A Mountain QuiltfestTM honors the art, traditions and community of quilting. In its 30th year, Quiltfest offers experienced and novice quilters a place to gather, learn, and celebrate June 3-6 at the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge. This year’s event includes two new evening events with renowned quilters and lecturers Judith Baker Montano and Cynthia England.
Beginning March 25, quilters can register for more than 50 classes, seminars, and workshops throughout the four-day event. Led by 11 of the top instructors, participants will discover new techniques for machine and hand-quilting, learn detailed quilt patterns, and perfect longstanding quilting methods. “We’re celebrating 30 years of craftsmanship, heritage, and fellowship in 2024 at A Mountain Quiltfest,” Pigeon Forge Executive Director of Tourism Leon Downey said. “We’re honored to offer an occasion for stewards of this treasured artform to gather and learn.”
New this year, Quiltfest will include two evening lectures open to the public.
Expert quilter, Cynthia England will present “Making the Most of Your Stash,” a trunk show where England will explore ways to increase the potential of the attendees’ fabric collections at 6 p.m. on June 3. Additionally, England will address organizing and storing fabrics. Tickets to this event can be purchased at www.mypigeonforge.com/event/quiltfest for $25 per attendee.
Beginning at 6 p.m. on June 4, renowned quilter, Judith Baker Montano presents “Crazy Quilt Journeys,” a dinner lecture about her adventures as a teacher and includes stories and information from her travels around the world. This event is a fit for needle workers of all types and highlights a number of amazing quilts and wearable art. Tickets to this event are $50 which includes a buffet-style dinner and a special gift and can be purchased at https://www.mypigeonforge.com/event/quiltfest.
Quilts of all kinds are displayed throughout the 232,000-square-foot event center during the event’s free quilt exhibit. Additionally, more than 500 quilts will compete for nearly $20,000 in prize money.
A Mountain Quiltfest also features over 40 onsite vendors booths offering quilting essentials and one-of-a-kind accessories. Onsite demonstrations are available daily.
The quilt exhibit and vendor hall hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 4-5 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 6. Admission is free to the quilt exhibit and vendor hall, and free parking is available at the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge.
Quiltfest patrons also are invited to bring their quilted items to Show & Tell on Wednesday, June 5, presented by the Piecemakers Quilt Guild and Sevier Valley Quilters. During this event, participants are given three minutes to show their favorite quilt, made by them or someone else and tell its story. Tickets are drawn throughout the event to win prizes from Quiltfest vendors. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; admission is free.
Attendees may submit heirloom quilts for appraisal by Cindy Stuart, an American Quilter’s Society certified appraiser. Stuart will be available for quilt appraisals June 3-6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only on a first-come, first-served basis.
