PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee — (Sept. 20, 2026) — Fall has settled into the Smoky Mountains, and a familiar cast of characters has returned to The Old Mill. The annual Scarecrow Stroll, taking place September to November, invites visitors to wander throughout The Old Mill property this fall, where handcrafted scarecrows add a little harvest-time personality—and plenty of photo opportunities—to one of Pigeon Forge’s most historic destinations.
The Scarecrow Stroll has become part of the fall experience at The Old Mill, encouraging guests to slow down, explore the property and discover scarecrows tucked among the shops, restaurants and gathering places surrounding the historic 1830 gristmill.
Each scarecrow has a personality of its own, making the stroll as much fun for adults as it is for children. Visitors are encouraged to take photos with their favorites and share them on social media by tagging @theoldmilltn on Instagram or @theoldmilltenn on Facebook, because, just like you, the scarecrows love a good selfie.
The Scarecrow Stroll is part of A Mill-Made Fall, a season-long celebration of the sights, flavors, and traditions of autumn at The Old Mill. Along the way, visitors can discover seasonal treats including caramel apples, pumpkin fudge, and apple and pumpkin butters; browse handcrafted fall pottery at Pigeon River Pottery; enjoy seasonal flavors throughout the property; and explore nearly two centuries of local history with the self-guided Standing In History tour.
Guests can also step inside the historic Old Mill on a guided tour. Built in 1830 along the Little Pigeon River, the water-powered gristmill remains in operation today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Scarecrow Stroll is free and can be enjoyed while visiting The Old Mill throughout the fall season. Complimentary cards with a map are available in all of the shops, so strollers can make sure they find each one. “Guests have loved all the different types of strolls and scavenger kinds of adventures we’ve offered, but this Scarecrow Stroll has been their favorite by far.”, said Noah Smith, while Donna Huffaker adds, “It’s fun to see all the pictures folks post with the scarecrows!” Noah and Donna are Area Marketers for The Old Mill.
