PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (July 22, 2016) — Thanks to strong visitation to both Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country in 2016, company officials are adding operating days to the calendars of both properties to allow guests more opportunities to make memories together this year.
Those looking for a way to cool off from the summer heat have a little more time to enjoy the refreshment of Dollywood’s Splash Country thanks to five new operating days, Aug. 15-19. The award-winning water park now will be open daily through Aug. 21 and on weekends through Labor Day.
The 2016 season has been an exciting year for Dollywood’s Splash Country as TripAdvisor named the Smoky Mountain destination a Top-10 water park, based on reviews and ratings on its website. Even Splash Country lifeguards collected accolades this season when Ellis & Associates, a firm that specializes in international aquatic safety and risk management, awarded them with Gold and Platinum Awards, the company’s highest designations, for their diligence in guarding the water.
Dollywood adds two days to its season, both during the popular Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana. Two Tuesdays, December 6 and 13, are new to the schedule and provide guests more time to experience Dollywood’s four million magical Christmas lights and two new shows, all part of the lineup for the eight-time winner for Best Christmas Event.
Dollywood’s entertainment team brings a Christmas classic to life with the debut of It’s a Wonderful Life. Based on the timeless holiday story of love and generosity, small town businessman George Bailey discovers the true value of life, family and friends with a little help from his guardian angel, Clarence.
One of Dollywood’s greatest entertainment offerings is remastered in 2016, as Christmas in the Smokies, returns to its traditional home at D.P.’s Celebrity Theater. Guests can celebrate the joy of the season while a cast of singers and dancers performs hometown holiday favorites while accompanied by a band of live musicians!
