PIGEON FORGE, Tenn., Dec. 16, 2016 – The Smoky Mountain Opry™ Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., is getting ready for a big toy distribution for all Sevier County children affected by the recent devastating wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountain area. Toys will be provided for every child, and each family will receive a food/snack box. Special guests will be Santa and his elves.
The Fee/Hedrick theaters are partnering with Hearts with Hands Disaster Relief, Asheville, N.C., First Baptist Church of Sevierville, Tenn., and Sevier County Economic Development Council, Sevierville, Tenn., to host this event in a large tent (donated by All Occasions Party Rentals) outside of the theater on Sunday, Dec. 18th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Dr. Greg Lentz and his Hearts with Hands ministry in Asheville, N.C., reached out to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Mayor David Wear with an offer for toys and food boxes because they have a “heart for the Smoky Mountains” and wanted to help. Lentz contacted Arthur and Tammy Rice with First Baptist Church of Sevierville to offer his support. Immediately others joined to help the cause. These include: Sevier County Economic Development; All Occasions Party Rentals, Knoxville, Tenn.; Amazing Grace Fellowship, Seth, W.Va.; Grace Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tenn.; Grace Christian Academy, Knoxville, Tenn.; MI Windows & Doors, Flower Mound, Texas; Premier Truck Group, Knoxville, Tenn., and Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Westwood Heights Baptist Church, Shelby, N.C.
“Since we are performing our Christmas shows in all three theaters and have entertainers who want to help from The Comedy Barn, Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud and The Smoky Mountain Opry Theaters, this Sunday is the perfect time for us to share in this special day with Sevier County families,” said David Fee, president and chief executive officer of Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group and co-owner of The Smoky Mountain Opry™ Theater. “We are truly honored to host this event and deeply touched by the overwhelming support. The abundance of toys that have been donated to give to the children who have been displaced has been phenomenal. We are in the entertainment business to ‘Sell Fun’ but on this special day we are going to ‘Give Fun!,’”
The Smoky Mountain Opry™ Theater is located at traffic light 0 at 2046 Parkway in Pigeon Forge. +++
