PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (July 23, 2013) – Ken Marschall’s haunting portraits of the celebrated RMS Titanic have become part of the ship’s rich history. The Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge is proud to announce that the famed American artist will visit to sign his best-selling books and posters during an exclusive two-day event.
Scheduled Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m.-noon, and Sunday, Sept. 8, from noon-2 p.m., this event’s window of opportunity is brief. Therefore, Titanic enthusiasts are urged to reserve space now for the chance to meet Marschall in person and hear his fascinating story – from his first commissioned painting of Titanic (at age 18) through four decades of creating internationally acclaimed art.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Ken here with us for a couple of days. He is, without a doubt, the go-to guy filmmakers, documentarians, historians and publishers rely on to provide visual impact and drama for their Titanic projects,” says Titanic Museum Attraction co-owner Mary Kellogg-Joslyn. “His historical Titanic ‘portraits’ are so detailed and breathtaking that they are sometimes mistaken for photographs,” she adds.
Marschall’s impressive work is showcased in “Titanic: An Illustrated History,” the same book that inspired James Cameron, Oscar-winning “TITANIC” writer and director, to bring aboard the artist as visual historian for sets and miniatures.
In 2001 and 2005, Marschall accompanied Cameron on dives to explore Titanic as never before. He made a total of six dives to the wreck site. Their undersea research provided exciting new details, which Cameron incorporated into Disney’s 3D “Ghosts of the Abyss,” Discovery Channel’s “Last Mysteries of the Titanic” and the 3D release of National Geographic’s “Titanic: The Final Word with James Cameron.”
In conjunction with Marschall’s appearance, the famed artist also is slated as a featured speaker at the Titanic Historical Society’s 50th Anniversary Convention, Sept. 4-8 in Pigeon Forge. To attend this convention visit www.TitanicHistoricalSociety.org
The Titanic Museum Attraction opens daily at 9 a.m. Reservations are strongly suggested for the Marschall event. To arrange your preferred date and time, please call 800-381-7670 or visit www.titanicattraction.com.
