PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee – (Oct. 15, 2026) – Just about everyone knows someone who has been impacted by breast cancer. Whether it is someone in their family, a friend, co-worker, or someone else in their life, it’s a disease that touches millions of lives each year. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is recognizing the important cause by providing ways for the public to join the fight. The upside-down house is also holding a First Responders Week at the end of the month to salute community heroes.
“STEM is at the heart of cancer research, so we’re proud to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the upside-down laboratory. Our entire team is ready to ‘think pink,’ spread resources, and raise money for a great cause,” said Ellen Holland, education sales manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge.
With over 321,000 new cases of breast cancer estimated in the U.S. this year, according to the National Cancer Institute, having a month that puts the issue into the spotlight makes perfect sense. The organization reports that approximately 13% of women in the country will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime, and currently over 4 million women living with it.
Since October is a month dedicated to spreading awareness about breast cancer, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is drawing on their roots in STEM to put it in the spotlight. They are spreading information and awareness regarding the research being done, ways to spot symptoms, and treatments. They are also providing fun, easy ways for the community to get in on the fight.
Throughout the month of October 2026, all guests visiting WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will have the chance to round up their ticket purchase to the nearest dollar at the door. Those funds collected will benefit Cancer Support Community East Tennessee, which is a local organization that focuses on providing free support to those impacted by cancer. Five percent of all proceeds from “Think Pink” t-shirts, which can be purchased in The Wonder Shop, will also be given to the organization.
A pop-up activity in the facility will give people a chance to get creative and show their support by making thoughtful cards. The cards will be given to breast cancer patients, survivors, and those who work in the medical field providing care for patients as a way to provide encouragement and support for the strong fighters.
“Fun fact: the month of October holds Breast Cancer Awareness Day, National First Responders Day, and National Tennessee Day!” said Joe Baumgartner, general manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. “That gives us so many things to celebrate! We’re always looking for opportunities to celebrate and support our community here at WonderWorks, so this month is sure to be a great one.”
WonderWorks is also spreading the love to first responders in honor of National First Responders Day by offering them free admission during select days. First Responders Week will be held from October 24-31, 2026, at the upside-down house. During this time, all emergency dispatchers, EMT’s, firefighters, paramedics, and police officers can show their employee identification at the ticket counter to redeem free admission. Plus, first responders can bring up to four guests with them at a discounted rate of only $15 plus tax per person.
WonderWorks Pigeon Forge aims to have strong ties with the Smoky Mountain community and engages in local giving all year long. There are a variety of ways they do this, including ticket round-up programs, working with organizations and groups to create customized fundraising packages, offering exclusive appreciation deals, and more.
